Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is a Japanese anime series which has been adapted from Hiromu Arakawa`s Fullmetal Alchemist manga. This science fiction, dark fantasy series has been produced by Bones and the director is Yasuhiro Irie. The writer of the series is Hiroshi Onogi. The Brotherhood series directly follows the original events of the manga. Unlike Fullmetal Alchemist which is the previously released adaption, Brotherhood is almost a 1:1 adaption of the manga.

Edward and Alphonse Elric are two brothers who are searching for the Philosopher`s Stone in the hope of restoring their bodies. Their bodies were lost when they were using their alchemy talents to revive their dead mother. Since Edward had only lost limbs, he joins the State Military and this allows him to continue his search while at the same time, he tries to restore Alphonse. Alphonse`s soul has been chained to the earth with a suit of armor. However, they are not alone in search of this stone. As they keep searching for the powerful stone they discover a plot to transmute the entire country for reasons that they are unable to understand.

This post-apocalyptic manga series of Japan has been written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. There are 28 volumes of the series and it began on April 7, 2013, till date. This series has been set in a world in which people live in cities that have been surrounded by huge walls that help in securing the people from the Titans. These titans are man-eating humanoids.

The television series was originally run from May 19, 2004 – March 19, 2005. The plot of the series is that a young woman called Fuu who was working as a waitress in a tea shop. She is abused by a group of samurai but is saved by a mysterious rogue by the name Mugen and a young ronin whose name is Jin.

Mugen and Jin become opponents when Mugen attacks Jin. As the two are fighting they by mistake end up murdering the son of the magistrate, Shibui Tomonoshina. The two are to be tried and executed for this crime but by Fuu`s help, they are able to escape the execution. The series has a total of 26 episodes.

10. Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul is a television series by Pierrot that aired in Japan on the channel Tokyo MX from July 4, 2014, to September 19, 2014. The series has a total of three seasons. This horror drama has a cast that includes Mamoru Miyano, Sora Amamiya, and Natsuki Hanae. The series is set in a world where there are ghouls who live among the human and are just like the normal people in almost all ways except their craving for the taste of human flesh.

Ken Kaneki goes on a date with Rize who is very beautiful and is only interested in him to eat him. After being rescued, Ken ends up being the first half – human and a half-ghoul hybrid. This leads him into the dark world of ghouls which is very violent but has been co-existing with the human world.

Guilty Crown is a Japanese television series that has been produced by the Production I.G. The first episode of the series was released on October 13, 2011. The story is about a young boy from high school, Shu Ouma, who obtains the ability known as the “Power of the King.” This power allows him to draw out items known as “Voids” from within the people.

She then gets thrown into a conflict that happens between a quasi-governmental organization which is known as the GHQ and the other being a resistance organization that is called the Funeral Parlour. This aims to restore Japan`s independence from the rule of the GHQ. In between all the conflict, Shu is forced to deal face with the burden that has rested on his shoulders and the dreadful mystery of the past. The series has been directed by Tetsuro Araki and the writers are Hiroyuki Yoshino and Ichiro Okouchi.

12. Darker than Black

The television series Darker than Black is also known as “Darker than Black: The Black Contractor that has been created and directed by Tensai Okamura. The series has been animated by Bones. The series premiered in Japan on 5 April 2007 with the satellite television premiere of the series on Animax in May 2007. This science fiction thriller is about an elite Contractor, Hei is working undercover for the syndicate while he is looking for his sister.

As his assistance, he has Mao with him who is also a contractor and is trapped in the body of a cat. He also has Yin as one of his working companion who helps him in locating all his targets.

13. Akame ga KILL

This Japanese manga series has been created by Takahiro. The series has been illustrated by Tetsuya Tashiro. The story is about a young villager, Tatsumi who comes to the Capital to earn money for the sake of his home but he discovers a robust corruption in the Capital. Night Raid is a group of assassins and they recruit Tatsumi to help them in their fight against corruption in the Capital. One of the things that the series is very popular for its graphic content. The series was directed by Tomoki Kobayashi and produced by Square Enix and has a total of 24 episodes.

14. Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese anime series that has been directed by Shinichiro Watanabe and has been written by Keiko Nobumoto. The producers of the series are Masahiko Minami and Kazuhiko Ikeguchi.
